Burong Falls

Burong Falls

Burrong Falls is a remote, multi-tiered waterfall located near the Mount William Range in the Grampians. Access is via an unsealed road and a 1.6 km return walk from the Burrong Falls carpark, with rocky and uneven terrain along the way. The walk takes around 45 to 60 minutes and is best suited to confident walkers with sturdy footwear, particularly after rain when the falls are flowing.

Water flow is best after rain, and sturdy footwear is recommended due to rocky and lightly maintained sections.

MacKenzie Falls is the Grampians’ most famous waterfall and flows year round, located in the northern section of the park. Visitors can access the falls via a short, sealed walk to the lookout for views from above, or take the MacKenzie Falls Base Walk, which involves over 250 steep steps down into the gorge and back. Allow 45 to 90 minutes depending on the route chosen, and be prepared for a strenuous climb on the return from the base.
